Well Drew’s old bear is certainly in much better shape than Kate’s old bear. I think Rupert (bear’s name) is now only threads…How lovely is this painting.Susan

Seriously love, love, love your work. It has such a beautiful essence and sense of time about it. It’s like quiet nostalgia. Just gorgeous.
Thank you so much for your kind comment.
Many of the things I paint come from my own history. The objects are something I can use to describe a feeling about that time in my life.
My son’s bear and the little trains are from a time when my boys were small and the chair is one I use in my studio and the rug is something I collected in a recent teaching trip to Morocco-where I am as I write this.
When the boys were small, I longed to paint every day and travel. So now all of those things have come to pass, but the boys are grown. So it is a wonderful but bittersweet thing .
I think that you are right about the passage of time being an important part of my work. Thanks for that observation.
Love your stuffed bear and background 🙂
