Working on another large still life. Here it is in progress.

Oh my gosh I am just rolling around moaning with joy, what beautiful painting. So much deep space within this little table-top world and line COLOR form!
Your paintings are so wonderfully soft! What is your process like? Do you scrape the canvas often? I just can’t get over that beautiful transition from the background into the dark shadows of the blue pot.
Hello Margaret and thewritingman,
Thank you both for stopping by and for your kind comments.
About process: I paint on birch panels mostly. Oil paint, bad brushes and linseed oil. Bad bushes because I can’t tolerate the clean up solvents that well and because I wear them out pretty fast. I go in as loose as I can to sort out where things go and to indicate values. Then I just find things I think I’d like to explore with paint and work out from the darks. I don’t scrape much, but I have been thinking a lot about what I heard David Lafalle say on a you tube video recently about not burdening the edges of form. I like that idea from so many angles and it has bee very much in my mind this last while. Thanks again . E
